Usui Reiki Ryōhō – 6-Month Instructor Manual

Program Goal: To train Reiki Masters to teach and attune others within the authentic Usui lineage.
Duration: 6 months (approximately 24 weeks)
Levels Included:

• Level I – Shoden

• Level II – Okuden

• Level III – Shinpiden (Master Practitioner)

• Master/Teacher – Shihan

Month 1 – Shoden (First Degree)

Focus: Self-healing and awakening the Reiki channel.
Objectives:

• Understand the history of Reiki and the life of Mikao Usui

• Learn the Gokai (Five Reiki Principles) and daily discipline

• Receive first attunement (Shoden reiju)

• Practice hand positions for self-healing

Instructor Materials:

• Lecture outline on “What is Reiki?”

• Teaching script for explaining Ki, Rei, and the seven forms of Ki

• Demonstration plan for sensing energy (Byōsen Reikan-hō)

• Group practice outline: Kenyoku-hō (dry bathing), Joshin Kokyū-hō (breath of light)

Assessment:

• Journal reflection: “How did Reiki energy feel during self-treatment?”

• Quiz on history and Usui’s Gokai

Month 2 – Shoden Integration

Focus: Building daily discipline.
Objectives:

• Practice self-treatments daily for 21 days

• Learn aura and chakra awareness

• Introduce Reiki for others (seated session)

Instructor Content:

• Script for explaining energy blocks and flow

• Demonstration checklist for self- and partner sessions

• Guided meditation: “Morning Gasshō and Evening Gratitude”

Month 3 – Okuden (Second Degree)

Focus: Working with symbols and distance healing.
Objectives:

• Learn and draw the three traditional symbols

• Understand Kotodama (mantras of sound vibration)

• Practice distant healing methods

Instructor Materials:

• Lecture: “The Vibrational Nature of the Symbols”

• Meditation: Chanting Cho-Ku-Rei, Sei-He-Ki, Hon-Sha-Ze-Shō-Nen

• Partner activity: Distance healing through visualization

• Handout: Traditional Japanese Reiki Level II Techniques (Gyōshi-hō, Koki-hō, etc.)

Assessment:

• Practice journal (symbol work)

• Instructor observation of distant healing demonstration

Month 4 – Okuden Integration

Focus: Deepening intuitive guidance.
Objectives:

• Develop Reiji-hō (intuitive scanning)

• Learn Nentatsu-hō (affirmation technique)

• Begin offering supervised Reiki sessions to volunteers

Instructor Tools:

• Meditation script for opening intuition

• Group reflection form on client feedback

• Ethical guidelines and client release form

Month 5 – Shinpiden (Third Degree)

Focus: Master energy and advanced practice.
Objectives:

• Learn the Dai Ko Myō symbol

• Practice advanced techniques: Reiki Aura Surgery

• Conduct self-empowerment practice (advanced reiju)

Instructor Materials:

• Lecture on “The Master Frequency and Inner Enlightenment”

• Exercise: Meeting the Reiki Guide Meditation

• Advanced table treatment outline (front and back body sessions)

Month 6 – Shihan (Teacher Level)

Focus: Teaching, Attunement, and Legacy.
Objectives:

• Study Attunement and Reiju methods in depth

• Practice giving attunements to others

• Learn teaching methodology and student evaluation

• Understand the responsibilities of a Reiki Master

• Step-by-step Attunement Ceremony guide

• Teaching schedule template

• Master meditation for alignment

Final Evaluation:

• Written exam on Reiki concepts and lineage

• Live demonstration: conduct attunement and Reiki session

Certification Requirements
